Candidate Sourcing - Facebook

Facebook for recruiters? Really?

Well Facebook is often overlooked by recruiters, because they think that there is no benefit in this site. But as you already know Facebook has over 1,3 billion active users. More than LinkedIn (300 million plus users). Facebook is one of the biggest databases of candidates available.

But this article will be short.

People in Facebook understand the possibilities for the job market, so they area start with things like Facebook Careers https://cs-cz.facebook.com/careers/.

But for us the most important tool is Graph Search function. The search is limited, because you can only find information that is shared publicly or by friends.

But this Search is only available on the U.S. version of Facebook! So if you would like to use it, just change the language on your Facebook account. Click on ‘Account Settings’ and you too can pretend to be American!

Queries in Graph Search are simple, with fields such as company name, education, groups etc.

One of the best step by step articles about how to use the Graph search you can find here http://www.sourcecon.com/news/2013/08/12/hacking-the-graph-for-better-sourcing-and-recruiting-on-facebook/

X-Ray Searching Facebook

X-ray searching on Facebook is a search method using the site:query modifier. It’s a search method that doesn’t get as in-depth as some others like for LinkedIn and other sites. And also its Facebook, so it has some limitations.

site:facebook.com (developer AND javascript) (Prague OR Praha) inurl:people

Power of Hashtags

Some candidates are using hashtags like #resume, #lookingforjob, #hireme or #needajob. Or if you would like to help candidates to find you you can use hashtags like #Jobs, #JobPosting, #JobOpening, #Careers, #Hiring or #NowHiring

LinkedIn won’t be replaced by Facebook, but you never know...
