When you’re unemployed, searching for a
job is the hardest step before becoming employed. There are various methods and
ways of searching for a job, but are you using an outdated job search tactic?
Find out in this article!
Often when we’re searching for a job, we
are quite desperate. We spend our time editing and prettying up our resumes, or
maybe looking through the back of the newspapers to see if someone has a job
offer that you can take up. However in the 21st century, it is
important to acknowledge that perhaps we have outdated job search tactics that
you should know about! Listed below are some outdated job search tactics that
you need to avoid at all costs:

Job Search Tactic #1: Keeping your resume as a paper copy rather than an online
copy as well
As
an unemployed, you’ve probably spent most of your free time perfecting your
resume, continually editing and enhancing your resume in every way possible.
That’s great – you’ve done the right thing, but perhaps you’re missing
something that is very important. You’ve probably only made sure that you keep
a copy of your resume as a hard copy on paper, but maybe you haven’t taken it
online.
It
would be a good idea to take your resume online and not just limit yourself to
having your resume on paper. Having your resume online as well broadens the job
opportunities that can be offered to you. In an age and society where we have
Internet, it is now possible to conduct jobs online and manage an online
business, just as you would manage a business in a shop. If you haven’t done so
already, now is a good time to put your resume up on the Internet!

Job Search Tactic #2: Focusing purely on one job only
As
an unemployed, you are probably looking for jobs that directly relate to your
interests, for example if you are a person with an interest in graphic
designing, perhaps you’re more focused on trying to get a job as a graphic
designer with a company.
There
are plenty of other job opportunities out there both directly related to
graphic designing. It is more than likely that you have more than one interest
in a certain job opportunity. Perhaps you’d like to take up a job as a chef, or
as a receptionist. Don’t limit yourself to one kind of job opportunity; this is
probably the very thing that is stopping you from getting a job in the first
place.

Job Search Tactic #3: Sending as many copies of your resume as you can to
various hiring managers
This
is a common mistake that many unemployed people will have, at some point, made
in their moments of desperation to get hired. At first, it won’t seem
unnecessary or bad, but over time it can be a bother and a waste of time for
hiring managers. Spamming their email inboxes or trying to vy for their
attention using standard resumes and cover letters won’t increase your chances
of getting hired with them. In fact, the chances of getting hired will be
minimal. Stick with having a fantastic resume or cover letter, and send them to
certain companies or businesses you actually see a prospective future with. It
won’t do to get hired by a mediocre company and feel that you are not in the
right place.

Job Search Tactic #4: Focusing on Only Yourself to Make Yourself Stand Out
While
it is a good idea to make sure that you focus on yourself in order to make that
resume outstanding or polish up your manners and speech, only focusing on
yourself can be counteractive. When you’re searching for a job, it is important
that you try to focus on the needs of the employer. Focusing on the needs and
goals of the employer will help enhance your personal image and increase your
chances of getting hired with the company.
